(Fd i ~4 WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 1918 ES -------- ocial Happenings A ne North Shore by Ruth Risley . HI, WINNETKA BRANCH of the Infant Welfare society wishes to make a special appeal for old clothes for children for the coming winter. There is a great need of all kinds of old clothes for babies and children. Miss Hellgren, the nurse in charge of the Winnetka station at the Chicago Commons said that the old clothes sent in last year were a great help to the poor families of that district, and she has asked the Winnetka committee to advertise as much as possible the urgent need of getting together all the cast-off garments théy can for these destitute children of our tenement districts. Please send all garments to Community House, care of Mrs. N. H. Blatchford, Jr. : 24 HE VEGETABLE MARKET will continue in business until October 1 or perhaps later if the weather permits. Now that the canning season is well on its way, and there will be so many lovely tomatoes to be canned or pickled, the committee in charge have deemed it wise to keep the Market open as long as possible. The ten cent table has established itself, along with the recipes tree and other features of the affair. a . North Shore society was greatly interested in the wedding which took place on Wednesday afternoon at St. Chrysostom's church, Chicago, when Miss Ginevra King and Ensign William H. Mitchell were married. The service was read at 4 o'clock by the Reverend Norman Hutton, rector of the church. Miss Katherine Blossom, daughter of Mrs. George W. Blossom of Hubbard Woods, Mrs. T. Philip Swift, formerly Miss Betty Hoyt, and William Boyden of Winnetka were members of the bridal party. Ad hold budget. Everyone on the north shore is invited to attend. Lieutenant Robert Bradley Fent- ress of Atlanta Georgia, and Miss REPRESENTATIVE DE YOUGN Republican Candidate for : Probate Judge LL FTA TT Frederic R. DeYoung, of Harvey, Ill, is a candidate on the Loyalist Plat- form of the Regular Republicans for the nomination for Judge of the Probate Court of Cook County. Mr. DeYoung has served in the last two sessions of the Illinois Legislature as a member of the House of Represent- atives from the 7th Senatorial District and is well known throughout the North Shore villages. His many friends welcomed with interest the announce- ment of his candidacy, and it is their belief that Mr. DeYoung's record as a public servant entitles him to the sup- port of the Republican voters at the Primary Election, September 11th. Grace T. Little of Memphis, Henn, were married Wednesday evening at the Buena Memorial Presbyterian church. The ceremony was witness- ed by relatives, including the parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs John G. Little from Memphis; Mrs. O. H. Ol- sen and Mrs. J. G.
