ro WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, FRIDAY, MARCH 21, 1919 : Ee , = War Emergency Union Activities | THE WORK OF THE MUNITION FACTORIES IN THE GREAT WAR (Told by Mr. Edwin 8. Fechheimer at Community House.) At a Community meeting in the Gymnasium of Community House. Sunday evening, March 16, Mr. Ed- win H. Fechheimer told the audience how some of the pursuits of peace, under the stress of war, were turned into the making of most destructive war materials. His talk was illustrat- ed by moving pictures taken in the factory of Winslow brothers, Chica- go, which was one of many thousands of factories taken over by the gov- ernment for the making of munitions. The pictures showed in most inter- esting and instructive detail how the six inch shells were made for our army. In reviewing such a film one learned something of the tremendous energy put into the equipping our men for their task "over there". Mr. William S. Elliott was chairman of the evening. The Reverend J. A. Richards gave the Invocation. The community singing was led by Mrs. Kohlsaat, assited by Mrs. Arthur Dean at the piano. WAR PERSONALS John A. Blow is at the U. SN.
