Professor McConathy has been offered the position of dean of the school of music of the State Uni- versity of Towa and he is now ser- iously studying the advisability of giving up his work in Evanston to accept the position in Iowa. He is president of the Chi- cago chapter of the Society of Amer- ican Musicians. He is well known in Evanston not only through the work of his department in the university but also as director of music in District 75 public schools, as chair- man of the committee on communi- ty music of the Evanston war coun- cil and as director of the children's chorus at the May festivals.
