America. 12 WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 1920. td tea NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW 70 ATTRACT CROWD Live Stock, and Horse Shows, Dairy Products Exhibit, and Athletic Events Are Features Not only farmers, dairymen and manufacturers of milk products, but the public at large is looking forward to the National Dairy Show at the Union Stock Yards, Chicago, October 7 to 16, for the big exhibition is rec- ognized as the greatest annual agri- cultural and industrial exposition in The show, with its im- mense herds of the finest breeds of dairy cattle and its monster display of machinery for farm, home dairy, milk plant, creamery, ice cream and cheese factories, will be made inter- esting to the casual visitor by its athletic carnival and its horse show. Leading athletes woof the Olympic team which won the Antwerp games will appear on the evenings of Oc- tober 7. 8 and 9 in connection with the high school and college athletic contests. This will be the first ap- pearance of the great track and field stars in America since winnine the seventh Olympiad in brilliant fashion. Fine Horse Show On the evening of October 11 and thereafter until the close of the dai- ry show, the finest show horses in America will be exhibited in a dazz- ling horse show, which will outrival the society events at Mineola, Mead- owbrook, Piping Rock and the South Shore Country club's horse meet. Lovers of horseflesh are assured a rich treat in the large entry list of hunters. saddlers and driving horses in all classes. Announcement is made that the five great dairy breeds will be judged on the following days: Guernsey Day. October 11; Holstein Day, October 12; Brown Swiss Day, October 12; Jersey Day, October 13, and Avrshire Dav, October 14. The most disting- uished cattle judges in the country will officiate in the prize ring and will give the raidymen an unexcelled opportunity to compare the breeds when seen together and to study breed, type and conformation under the guidance of the world's leading experts. Every facility for learning the newest methods will be provided and the fullest information on all phases of the dairy industry wlil be avail- able for the seeker after knowledge. Every state and national cattle asso- ciation will have a head quarters at the show and state leaders, county agents and ctubworkers will have meetings places assigned them. The Dairy Products contest is set for October 8 and the Students' Cattle contest for October 9, Junior Cattle contest, October 8. BARBAROUS BOLSHEVIKI Barbarous and bloodthirsty Mon- gols comprise one-third of the Bol- chevik army that invaded Poland, ac- cording to workers in Y. W. C. A. soup kitchens in Poland, who were forced to abandon their relief work and come home after the Reds cap- tured large stores of the American Relief Administration by the fall of Vilno. EXPORTS EXCEED IMPORTS Gold imports from England con- tined heavy during the first ten days of August figures made public by the Federal reserve board showing im- ports from that source of $6,604,189. France, the only other European na- tion to export gold to the United States sent $676,505 in the same per- jod. Total imports of gold to the United States from all countries be- tween August 1 and August 10 ag- gregated $8,071,045. Exports during the same time were $8,430,743. Silver imports exceeded exports in the ten days covered by the figures. Imports of the white metal amounted to $1441,014, against exports .of $854,862. The adverse trade balances, however, are permitting European nations to take little of either gold or silver. Silver exports to Europe have been only $4,054,282 and gold ex- ports only $266,510 since January 1, 1920. The board's figures show exports of gold totaling $101,157,159, to the na- tions of Asia, while South American powers have taken $104,721.300.
