Augmenting the pro- gram were a group of piano selections by Miss Lillian Parks, a lovely young artist, and some delightful solo work by Miss Gladys Miss Lillian Parks Swarthout, soprano, of Wil- mette, accompanied by Mrs. Edgar H. Slaughter, also of Wilmette. Miss Parks, who has recent- ly started a class in piano in Wilmette, is acting assistant to Madame Sturkow-Ryder in her Chicago studio, and is in charge of the correspondence in the piano department at the Sherwood School of Music. She acquired her musical edu- cation in New York City, fin- ishing at Oberlin college, be- fore coming to Chicago to make her debut. Miss Parks is expecting to make a tour to the coast in recital work early next spring. Tomorrow evening, the fourth round of the Bridge tournament will be played, and according to a recent an- nouncement there is still an opportunity for members to join the tournament and win a tournament prize, A masquerade dancing party for seniors, on Saturday evening, December 11, promises to be one of the most interesting affairs the club has planned for the holiday month. The North Shore Catholic Woman's league and Young Ladies' auxiliary announce a Good Fellow's Christmas party to provide good cheer for the needy, Tuesday evening, December 14, at the Win- nekta Woman's club. There will be cards and dancing. Mrs. F. H. Jones is president of the league, Mrs. John S. Cook, auxiliary chair- man, and Mrs. N. P. Anderson, chairman of Social Service depart- ment. The Daughters of the British Em- pire in Illinois are making final preparations for their annual bazaar, to be held on December 9, 10 and 11, at the Auditorium hotel. There will be twenty-five booths for display of the articles which have been given to the various chapters also booths conducted by the Sons and Daughters of St. George, the Canadian club, and the British-American club. All pro- ceeds will be devoted to the building fund of the British Old Peoples' home. Mrs. Edgar E. Arison, Mrs. C. E. Tilden, Mrs. Matthew Hodges, and Mrs. George Cooke-Adams are in charge of the bazaar. The Drama Stidy class of the Monday, December 13, at 2:30 o'clock, Wilmette Woman's club will meet at the clubhouse. Mr. O. P. Heggie, now playing the star role in the comely, "Happy Go Lucky" at the Playhouse, will be speaker. As this will be the last class program no tickets will be necessary and 3 cordial invitation is extended to any- one in the village who would be in- terested in hearing Mr. Heggie. Alumni of Northwestern university gave formal welcome to Walter Djil Scott, 95, the only Northwestern alumnus ever elected president of their alma mater, at a dinner in the University club Thursday evening. . Besides an address by President Scott, Dr. David Kinley, head of the University of Illinois, and President Harry Pratt Judson of the University of Chicago gave short talks.
