Mrs. E. E. Harwood of Olympia Fields went into the lead in the Wednesday play with an excellent round of 43--45--88. Mrs. J. W. Douglass of Westmoreland negotiated the round in 47--46--93, and Mrs. W. Anderson of Indian Hill in 45--48--93, tying for second place. Miss Elizabeth Klotz of Indian Hill, who lost the Chicago City title a few weeks ago, had 47--52--99. The final 18 holes, the approaching and putting contests were played on Thursday. The open event, scheduled for Monday of this week at the Glen- view club under auspices of the Woman's Western Golf association, was postponed because of inclement weather and has been re-allotted for some time in September. The Qualifying round of the Pres- ident's trophy will be played Saturday of this week at the North Shore Golf club. There will be handicap play, thirty-two to qualify. There will be play also in the John E. Cawkwell Trophy event. Today is Guest Day for the women members of the club and on next Friday there will be a mixed two-ball foursome event for the women of the club. Winnetka Playfield golfers will en- gage in the First Round, Match Play, of the August Class Tournament Sat- urday and Sunday. The Second and Semi-Final rounds will be played on succeeding Saturdays and Sundays. The Final Round will be played on August 27 or 28. The First Round of the Angus Cup event will be played Saturday at Westmoreland Country club. There will be play also in the St. Andrew Trophy event, medal play handicaps and in the Fellowship Cup event. On Wednesday and Thursday, Aug- ust 10 and 11 will take place the Sixth Annual Tam O'Shanter event, one of the most attractive features of the season's program. Skokie Country club golf events for this week-end will be featured by play in the Club Championship tour- nament, Medal play, 18 holes, Gross score. In the Jualifying Round the players will qualify in five flights of sixteen players based on their gross score. In the Qualifying Round the President's Cup; emblematic of the club championship; Second flight--the Directors' Cup; Third flight--Vice' President's Cup; Fourth flight--The Treasurer's Cup; Fifth flight--The Secretary's Cup. On Friday, August 12, there will be play in the Sunset Tournament, four-ball mixed four- somes, to be played over the second nine holes. NORTH SHORE REALTOR HURT AS AUTOMOBILE OVERTURNS George E. Orr, Glencoe resident and member of a large Chicago and north shore real estate firm, was the victim of an automobile accident on July 22, according to word received this week from the Modesto Herald, Modesto, Cal, where Mr. Orr is spending the summer. Orr, who has been stopping at the Modesto hotel, was returning by auto- mobile from a business trip to San Jose when his car was crowded off a road by heavy traffic near Modesto. The car overturned pinning Orr under the body in such a position he was unable to extricate himself. Passing motorists came to the rescue and took the injured man to the Modesto hotel. He sustained a fractured collar bone, several broken ribs and suffered severe shock.
