WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1, 1921 EXPECT EARLY HEARING ON ..VILLAGE ZONING ORDINANCE The Winnetka Zoning Commission held its first meeting since June Thursday evening. September 29, at the Village hall. Hope was expressed at the meeting that the Village Zon- ing ordinance would be in shape for a public hearing early in October. Zoning work in Winnetka, it was explained, has been delayed in order to take advantage of the new state Zoning law which was effective be- ginning July 1, 1921, and which elim- inates a large amount of the technical procedure required by the old law. Fugene Rummler, 965 Spruce street, a former Village President, is chair- man of the Zoning Commission. QUARTET AUGMENTS WORK OF CONGREGATIONAL CHOIR Sunday morning at the Winnetka Congregational church the new quar- tet will assist in the worship for the first time singing two anthems, "Praise the Lord", by Randegger, and "What of the Night", by Thompson. The quarter will in no way take the place of the volunteer girls' choir. It represents an advance and not a sub- stitution in the musical service of the church. The place of the choir, it is explained, will be more rather than less for it will presently be called up- on to do chorus work in support of the quartet. HEEDS "CALL OF WILD" CHUM BROKEN HEARTED The baby son of Jacob Wirtz, 3616 Lake Park avenue, Chicago, is broken hearted. All because "Nellie", his constant companion is missing. "Nellie", according to word receiv- ed by the Winnetka police, leaped from a car while the Wirtz family was driving through Hubbard Woods Sun- day afternoon, and, disregarding calls from its owner, answered the "call of the wild" and hasn't been seen since. "Nellie" is described as a black and tan dog.
