Did they sit back and mope about it? They did not. Last Thursday Troop No. 1 of the Boy Scouts conducted a Food con- test at Community House. Each mem- ber of each patrol cooked or baked or fried some delicacy such a cup- cakes, fruit cake, fudge, bacon and eggs, etc. Judges of the contest were Charles Rummler and Luther Adams, assist- ant scout masters. Successful chefs received credit toward their scout merit records as reward for their culinary capabilities. FALSE ALARM Reports of a boat afire off Willow street Wednesday night brought a squad of police to the lake shore af- ter they had notified the Evanston Coast Guard station. The boat was there alright but the "fire" was only the ship's lights. Some boys had sum- moned the police.
