WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, DECEMBER 24, 1921 New Trier Instructor Honored by Biologists Prof. Louis E. Hildebrandt Named Chairman of Biology Section of Science and Mathematics Association At the annual meeting of the Cen- tral Association of Science and Math- ematics Teachers, in St. Louis, dur- ing the Thanksgiving holidays, Louis E. Hildebrandt, head of the Biology department at New Trier, was chosen chairman of the Biology section. Mr. Hildebrandt has an A. M. from Northwestern, where he taught one year before coming to New Trier twelve years ago. He is a member of the Sigma Xi Honor society. He has had a wide experience as a teach- er and principal in high schools, and for. two summers traveled through Europe gathering specimens for his museum and also lantern slides for his lectures in Biology. He spent two summers in the west and one in the east and the south obtaining ma- terial for his work. ! At present his collection consists of | of 150 mounted birds and thousands of insects, shells, rock and mineral specimens, besides a very complete herbarium. He plans to make his school museum one of the best in the state. BLOW'S ALL-STARS TRIM LEGION INDOOR MEN 17-6 Bert Blow's All-Stars took the first of a five game series of Indoor base- ball games from the Winnetka Legion nine last Wednesday. The final score was 17 to 6. Harry Anderson's pitching for the All-Stars was the feature of the game, with 17 strikeouts to his credit. PHYSICIAN BECOMES RESIDENT Dr. Frederick Christopher, leading Chicago surgeon and member of the staff at St. Luke's hospital, who is to be associated with Dr. F. W. Blatch- ford and Dr. C. A. Aldrich of Win- netka, has taken over the McLeod home at 915 Elm street until his new home on Willow street, east of Ridge avenue, is completed. Mrs. McLeod has gone to New Orleans for the win- ter months. 2 i PLAYS WITH MATCHES--FIRE Fire last Saturday caused slight damage to the home of Charles Cooper, 804 Linden avenue. The blaze emanated from a waste paper basket set afire by a small boy in the family who had been playing with matches, according to the fire department. VISITS IN TEXAS M. K.
