10 WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 1922 RESIDENTS ENJOY AUTUMN CARNIVAL North Evanston Event At- tracts Record Crowds This week-end is attracting residents of the entire north shore to the great Fall Festival in progress in the North Evanston commercial district. Throughout this week there have been special activities designed to pro- vide recreation for the people of the vicinity, although Thursday, Friday and Saturday were designated as the | three Festival days. Thursday and Friday programs in- cluded such attractions as the merry- | go-round, ferris wheel, whip and scores of concessions, as well as special novelty and refreshment booths. In the evening there was street dancing. Saturday events were to start off with a championship baseball game at | Northwestern field at 3 o'clock, be- tween the North Evanston Boosters and the Chicago Boosters. No admis- sion was to be charged at this event. At 8 o'clock Saturday evening the great event, the crowning of the] Queen of the Festival, now being se- lected in a thrilling Popularity contest will be the outstanding feature. The Festival finale is to be in the nature of a beautiful Mardigras procession in which every person will appear in costume and special prizes will be awarded. Every resident of the north shore is invited to join with the citizenry of North Evanston in celebrating this big autumn carnival. The event is under auspices of the North Evanston Busi- ness Men's association.
