The show is given in co-operation with leading Evanston shops and de- partment stores. George Melford's production, "Java Head" is the screen attraction for this week. Beginning Monday, April 9, and continuing through Wednesday April 11, New Evanston patrons will be delighted with Marian Davies' latest success, "Adam and Eva." This is Miss Davies' first production since, the "When Knighthood was in Ilow- er" and has been hailed by critics as one of her notable achievements. It is an up-to-date comedy drama that enjoyed a solid year of unusual suc- cess in its legitimate run on Broad- way. Betty Compson will be the New Evanston attraction for three days beginning Thursday, April 12. The vehicle is "The White Flower," a Par- amount picture and a story replete with romance and mystery. Hoyburn Theater Another week of great specials is planned by the Hoyburn theatre be- ginning Monday, April 9. Douglas McLean, favorably re- membered as the star of "The Hotten- tot," will grace the program on Mon- day and Tuesday in "Bell Boy 13," a picture "full of fun from start to fin- ish." Bull Montana will be an added attraction with his "Ladies Man." The Delta Gamma sorority will take over the Hoyburn on Wednes- day, in a benefit performance. Will Rogers will be seen on this occasion in "The Headless Horseman," taken from Washington Irving's classic, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." The Hoyburn program for Thurs- _ day, Friday and Saturday, April 12, 13 and 14 will bring and all-star cast in the interesting play "What a Wife Learned." Members of thé cast in- clude Milton Sills, Marguerite De La Motte and John Bowers. Buddy Messenger, one of the bright lights in "The Flirt," will be at the on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in "Smarty." rr | Howard Theater Tom Mix annexes the limelight at the Howard for Sunday April 8, in his very latest thriller, "Three Jumps . Ahead," a film that is said to eclipse any production that dynamic star has ever attempted. Next week will be one of the How- ard's biggest week's of the year. Be- ginning Monday, April 9 will be shown that remarkable film, "The Christian," rated by critics as among the six best recent productions. "The Christian" will show on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday, April 12, Laurette Taylor makes her screen debut at the Howard in "Peg O' My Heart," made famous by her on the legitimate stage. The screen version of the great play was achieved under the personal sup- ervision of David Belasco and is re- ported one of the very best pictures of the season. Adelphi Theater | "J Mary Pickford will beckon to Adel- phi patrons in the opening programs for next week at the Clark street playhouse. It is a re- markable film from every standpoint and in it Miss Pickford again justi- fies her calling as America's Sweet- heart. The film will be at the Adelphi through Tuesday, April 10. "Java Head," with a picked cast on Wednesday, Thursday, April 11 and 12. Sir Hall Caine's "The Christian" comes to the Adelphi for Friday and Saturday, April 13 and 14. Richard Dix, Mae Busch, Gareth Hughes, Phyllis Haver and Marlowe Hamil- ton are the stars in this super-drama that has been selected by critics as one of the best releases of the new year. By the way, it isn't generally known that Mary Hay is writing the music for a play in which she will appear next season. Little Mrs. Barthelmess is an accomplished musician, but this will be the first occasion for the pub- lic to applaud her talent--"Photo- play Magazine" for April. Elsie Ferguson, while making scenes for "Varying Shores," a forth- coming picture, met a charming old lady in Virginia who gave her a re- cipe for a fruit cake, and thus laid the foundation for the Elsie Ferguson Fruit Cake Company, making fruit cake in a large way.
