ALUNNITO PROVE LOYALTY Hold Annual Candle Light- ing Ceremonies A rekindling of alumni loyalty of thousand of Northwestern University graduates throughout the world will be symbolized by the annual candle- lighting ceremony Friday, May 18, when Purple alumni of various cities will meet in fellowship, sing campus songs and swap stories reminiscent of undergraduate life. George S. Dal- gety, executive secretary of North- western's general alumni association, has received reports from most of the large cities of the United States--and several foreign cities including Hono- lulu--that preparations are being made for spirited meetings. The Chicago Club of alumni will ob- serve the annual candle-lighting day with a luncheon at Hotel Morrison, at 12:30. President Scott will be principal speaker at the gathering, and the deans and directors of the several departments of the university will give short talks. The new exe- cutive secretary of the Northwestern general alumni association, Charles W. Ward, will be present and will address the alumni. President Nathan William Mac- Chesney of the Northwestern univer- sity general alumni association will be in Kansas City Friday evening, May 18, to talk to Purple grads. Los An- geles expects to have a banquet with over one-hundred present. The speak- er will be Rufus von Kleinsmid, 05, president of the University of South- ern California.
