4 from WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, MAY 19, 1923 (OF INTEREST only to our ADVERTISERS Watch a man reading a paper when his eye catches sight of a full-page ad. He holds the paper off a little to get the proper perspective. It's that extra minute or two of inspection given the ad that gives it the oppor- tunity to make an extra strong im- pression upon him. That's why full- page ads are worth so much and why so many of our advertisers use them. The Earl Coal Motor company of Evanston has been changed to North Side Motors of Evanston under the management of Samuel D. Wempher. The firm is to extend its building fifty feet to provide more space for sales and sérvice departments. The con- cern is representative of the Chandler, Cleveland, Durant and Star cars. The Snider and Cazel Drug com- pany, known to every resident of Wil- mette as the proprietors of the up-to- date pharmacy at the northeast cor- ner of Wilmette and Central avenues is establishing another drug store in the new Aiken building a Hubbard woods. Another big step in the march of progress on the north shore. as it were. The Black and White Cab com- pany has moved its taxi-cab offices from Prouty Annex to a new loca- tion in the Richardson Garage build- ing on E. Elm street. Two new cabs, the type used by the Yellow Cab company in Chicago, have been added to the company's "fleet" of meter taxis. The Winnetka State Bank is pub- lishing some interesting statistics this week. Usually statistics are "dry as dust," but the growth of the State bank in its fourteen years of exsist- ence is quite "live stuff," since it represents in a way, the development of the village over that period of time. Good reading! Henry Schauffler, formerly head- gardener for James Simpson at Glen- coe, has established himself as land- scape designer and gardener. He is highly recommended to prospective home builders on the north shore. The R. H. Schell Dry Goods store in Hubbard Woods has been moved the southeast corner of Gage street an Linden avenue to 983 Lnden avenue, where it is now open for business. F. Mueller, florist at Scott and Linden avenues, is advising house- holders to get their window boxes filled before Decoration Day. He al- So says it is time to plant annuals. Building operations are under proper legal control. If you want to put up a home on a lot having an area less than 12,500 square feet, vou can't build it east of the tracks. You'll have to go over into Zone B. If you want to construct a building for a store or other commercial purposes, ~ you'll have to find room in Zones C or D We congratulate Kenilworth resi- dents on being in a position to receive the benefits of this excellent zoning ordinance.
