A. Milne, the North Shore Theatre Guild feels that it is adhering in every way to the standards set by "Pygmalion," "Mixed Marriage," "Dear Brutus" and Alexander Dean "The Hero," four of its former suc- cesses. Milne is one of the greatest living English dramatists. His works are subtle and delicate in their satir- ical humor, his style whimsical. He is compared to Barrie. The laughs accorded this play will be very different from those called forth by "Come Seven," but laughs there will be, for there are very amusing scenes. Unusual Theme "The folly of fetichism" might be said to be the theme of the play. What to do if one finds that his house has been built on shifting sands--or worse still, on no foundation at all! "You can't climb very high on a lad- der unless you build it yourself," is] the clever deduction of one critic. It is, however, not a play with a moral obviously attached; but the sit- uations are so unusual as to almost compel one to arrive at some definite and satisfactory ethical conclusion. There may be as many conclusions as there are persons in the audience, for Milne forces none of his own. Alexander Dean, the director, has taken great pains to secure an ade- quate cast, one that is able to give the necessary touch of English at- mosphere. In the North Shore- Skokie girls' league, the N. S. Chiefs won over the Skokie Eagles 26 to 10, and the Iroquois defeated the Skokie Wildcats 17 to 14. Farlier in the week the Skokie Eagles beat the Skokie Seagulls in a one-sided contest which ended in an 18 to 5 score. Another drubbing was administered when the Wildcats amassed 10 runs to three that were chalked up for the Skokie sluggers. Skokie came back against the North Shore outfit when the Spartans, a Skokie team inthe boys' league, won a 10 to 7 game from the North Shore team. The Sagamores, another Skokie team, did itself proud by winning two games Tuesday. The Sagamore crew beat the Stars 9 to 6 in the first tilt and 8 to 7 in the second. The Skokie Stags won from the Skokie Spartans in a 6 to 5 game last Friday.
