' WINNETKA, WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, JUNE 2, 1923 MASONIC LODGE GIVES DEGREES Have Interesting Session Here Saturday Evening Winnetka Lodge was opened Satur- day, May 26, at 1 o'clock P. M., for work on the Third Degree. There was a class of seven candidates, twen- ty-six visitors representing twenty- three lodges, were present to help confer the degree upon their friends. During the evening session, among the visitors were, Earl Pettibone, past master of Wilmette lodge, 'Mr. Ad- kins, Senior warden of Wilmette lodge and Molter, past master of North Ev- anston lodge. At 6 o'clock, dinner was served to over fifty men, served under direction of Stewarts, Earl Weinstock and Frank Nelson. Among those who made up the class, are several men prominent in the business and social life of Win- netka including, J. C. Cain, H. C. Winchell, H. H. Hoyt, E. N. Nelson, H. C. Sanders, John Olling and Ro- bert W. Howard. With the coming of warm weather, the lodge as a whole, naturally looks forward to the opportunity of work- ing under the more favorable condi- tions which will be afforded by the lodge room in the new Temple on Elm street. Work on the building is progressing satisfactority and, ac- cording to present ipdications, it will be ready for occupancy sometime during the summer. Church Swells Fund To Care for Hero Graves The Wilmette Presbyterian church last Sunday morning contributed handsomely to the American Legion's projected $100,000 endowment fund to provide for the perpetual care of the graves of America's 32,069 soldier dead in Europe. Members of the Wilmette post of the American Legion attended Mem- orial services at the church last Sun- day morning. The capacity of the auditorium was taxed by the large number of residents who attended the services.
