At the meeting where this was accomplished the by-laws adopted set out the object to be to enlist the support and interest of the men and women engaged in public service company work in the Illinois Children's Home and Aid society, which is devoted to the finding of homes for homeless children. At this meeting the officers, a board of governors, and seven standing com- mittees of the chapter were elected. The officers are chairman, John F. Gilchrist, Commonwealth Edison company, vice- chairman, Britton I. Budd, Chicago Ele- vated railroads; secretary, L.. C. Torrey, Chicago Elevated railroads; and treas- urer, F. H. Scheel, Utilities Securities company. The membership of this chapter in- cludes employes of all public utilities and affiliated companies in the State of Illinois. This means a potential mem- bership of approximately 25,000 people. It is expected to enroll this great num- ber of people in this humanitarian work, and to realize a large sum, all of which will be turned over to the parent body assuring the giver that his membership fee will be devoted to the actual allevia- tion of suffering. Incidental office and clerical expense will be borne by the public utility companies whose employes make up the chapter. Britton I. Mills, curator of the Ohio Archaeological and Historical Museum. "Right here in Ohio the Indians es- tablished cultures that exceeded in ar- tistic production anything ever found in Europe," declared Dr. Mills, who has bade exhaustive studies of prehistoric man in America.
