It represented a most com- prehensive and painstaking study of the topic. Mrs. Porter has kindly consented to read "Oedipus Rex," a play to appear in Chicago this coming week, to a group of women who will meet on Monday afternoon, January 28, at 3 o'clock, at the residence of Mrs. E. Junior Ice Carnival Attracts to Indian Hill > Hill Club is to have a Junior Ice Carnival to be attended in fancy dress costumes tomorrow afternoon. The affairs will open with a grand march at 2 o'clock and there will be many prizes for the various events, as well as for the best costumes. In the opening number which was written especially for the occasion by Mrs. Burton At- wood, the seventeen Circle chairmen, led by Mrs. Childs, demonstrated in a song with words cleverly ar- ranged to the accompaniment of a well known tune, the plans and pur- poses of the organization. If there was any doubt as to the position in the community occupied by this organ- ization, it was dispelled by the whole- heartedness with which all those in- terested were received by the women present. The presentation of the one-act play "Neighbors," written by Zona Gale, and given by the Community Drama club, was very appropriate for the occasion, and there was a ready response in the hearts of the audience to the theme effectively brought out by the well chosen cast of actors. The story is of the application of the Gold- en Rule in every day life in our con- tact with those who make up the community in which we live. The play was followed by a recep- tion in the assembly room where each Circle served refreshments at attrac- tively decorated tables offering the op- portunity for a friendly chat over a cup of coffee with old friends and new acquaintances. The Winnetka Circles are to be congratulated, not only for their loyal co-operation in the successful termina- tion of the afternoon's program, but also for the never failing and tireless efforts on the part of Mrs. R.
