This tournament will be 'con- ducted under the auspices of the Win- netka park board. The unique nature of this tournament will no doubt make it highly popular. It is hoped to make this an annual affair, inasmuch as it offers such large possibilities in the way of the de- velopment of abilities of those who participate. It is expected that the competition will be close and the en- tries numerous. Prizes and badges, say the prelimin- ary announcements, will be awarded for the kites which fly the highest in fifteen minutes, also for the largest, the smallest, the prettiest, the fun- niest, and the largest box kite. This wide range of possible entries makes it likely that there will be a great number of competing candidates. Girls as well as boys can try out their powers of designing and managing kites. A kite will be considered to fly if, after once up, it can be flown from a standstill position. All entrants must be school pupils residing in Winnetka. Girls can compete as well as boys. There will be three classes and awards will be made in each class. The Junior class will include all grades up to and including sixth grade. The Intermediate class will include the seventh and eighth grades. The Senior class will include all grades above the eighth grade. TEACH SIXTH GRADERS OF UPPER CLASS WAYS Winnetka sixth graders are to be told how to work and play when they ar- rive in the upper grades at Skokie school next autumn. It will be the seventh graders who provide the information and the following activities are planned for the week of May 26: During the last week in May the sixth grades from Greeley, Horace Mann, and Hubbard Woods schools will in turn be invited to spend a day at Skokie, visiting classes and getting ac- quainted. On Friday afternoon of the same week, beginning at 2:30 o'clock, all of the Winnetka sixth grades are to be invited to the Skokie grounds, where they will be entertained. First, an as- sembly program will be given, which will feature a burlesque of "Treasure Island." Games, including a baseball series be- tween the sixth grades of the four schools, will then be indulged in, and the entire program will be closed with a picnic supper. The hope of the present seventh graders is to give the younger children an understanding of both work and play at Skokie so that they will feel at home next year.
