WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, MAY 31, 1924 13 Pageant of the Seasons Takes Place in Evanston Tuesday ATRONS for the Spring 0 Festival of the National Kindergarten and Ele- mentary college, to be held in the Evanston Country club on Tuesday evening, June 3, are: Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. Dawes, Mrs. James A. Patten, Mr. and Mrs. William D. Al- len, Mrs. E..J. Buffington, Mrs. Philip D. Armour, III, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mac- Leish, Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Byram, Mrs. Henry M. Cooper, Dr. and Mrs. William O. Waters, Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Starr, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Smith, Miss Edna Dean Baker. The festival, a pageant of the seasons, the never-failing, ever-changing cycle of seed- time and harvest, glory of summer and austere beauty of winter, will be presented by the junior and senior classes of the college and to the charm of processional, frieze, dance and pantomime will be added the beauty of music by a choir ol 130 girlish voices. Autumn, gorgeous with the scarlet and purple and gold of her fruits, with dance of frost-dyed, wind-blown leaves and joyous revel of grapes, is followed by winter with its glittering ice peaks and sprightly Jack Frosts. Silvry- armoured spear bearers suggest keenly the sharpness of winter, but are put to rout with the entrance of candle- lighted fir trees and merry carolers. Spring, wakened by the pipes of Pan, brings warmth and gladness to the earth, trees and flowers put forth their buds and light-footed maidens dance beneath the fragrant boughs. Last of all comes summer--weaving gar- lands, full-blown blossoms, and the crowning of Flora, Queen of Summer, an honor given by vote of the students to the girl whom they believe best represents the spirit of the college. . Miss Louise St. John Westervelt is in charge of the music for the festival, while the pageant itself, with its at- tractive costuming and staging are under the direction of Miss Etta Mount and Miss Margaret Farrar.
