WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, APRIL 11, 1925 IE) ------- Marvels at Camp Fire Hearth One of the most interesting and unique spectacles in Community House, or, for that matter, in all Winnetka, is the Fire- place in the Camp Fire Girls' room at the center. WINNETKA TALK commented upon this feature at some length at the time of the dedication of the newer Commun- ity House, but exceptional interest now attaches to the fireplace in view of the comments regarding it made by one of the founders of Camp Fire, Mrs. Luther Halsey Gulick. Mrs. Gulick was a visitor at Com- munity House recently and made a scrutinizing inspection of the Camp Fire headquarters. She was highly pleased with the general arrangement of the room but spoke more particularly of the fireplace. Among other things she said: "The beauty of the fireplace, with its many symbolic tiles, calls for much praise. Winnetka Camp Fire Girls have done a very lovely and unique thing. It heartens me to see it. I never dreamed there could be anything so beautiful and such a symbol of composite ideals of many girls. It deserves the highest praise." Mrs. Gulick, incidentally, was the originator of many of the Camp Fire symbols, The tiles in the fireplace, as illustrated above, were the work of the girls of the Winnetka groups. Winnetkans are invited to at any time inspect this beau- tiful representation of Camp Fire ideals.
