Grateful For Help in New Teachers' Rooms ann 'Members of the housing committee of the Winnetka Parent-Teacher as- sociation have completed the furnish- ing of two apartments for the use of new teachers who came to the local schools this year. Much of the furni- ture was donated by residents and many helped in getting the apartments in order. A statement thanking those who were of help has been issued by the housing committee and reads as as follows : "The Parent-Teacher association wishes to thank those who assisted in assembling and beautifying the apart- ments that six of our new teachers will call home. : "Besides those who in former years donated furniture, we are greatly in- debted to Mrs. Mergentheim, Mrs. Wil- liam Hale, Mrs. Veeden, Mrs. De Windt, Mrs. Foster, Mrs. Walter Fish- er, Mrs. Benjamin Pfeiffer, Mr. and Mrs. Harshaw, Mrs. Agry, the Wilhite studio and Miss Herbst. "The kindly assistance of Mr. Scully and his employes, Mr. Iredale and his employes, Charles Studier, the Nelson Laundry, the Parisian Dry Cleaners, the Winnetka Coal and Lum- ber company, R. H. Schell, G. L. Zick, the North Shore Electric shop, as well as Mr. Eckhart, is all greatly apprecia- ted. "Much credit is due to Mrs. Roger Ballard and her committee, Mrs. Er- win Meyers and Mrs. Martin Cassell for their wizardry in recreating paint- ed furniture. Others who assisted in various ways are Mrs. Charles Barker, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hoop, Mrs. Plumley, Mrs. Vincent Cartier, 'Mrs. Ralph Snyder, Mrs. Vernon Welch, Mrs. William Parr, Mrs. Anna Forde and her husband and WINNETKA TALK." North Shore Country Day School Opens September 21 School officials at the: North Shore Country Day school expect a substan- tial increase in enrollment when the school opens at 8:30 o'clock next Mon- day morning, September 21. About 340 pupils are expected to register, it was said. A number of new teachers have been added to the faculty this year. They are Louis A. Taylor, who will teach mathematics; C. H. Collister, English: A. W. Wilson, English; Ray- mond Carlson, English: Frances El- lison, gymnasium, and Ben Knotts, art. The Knollsley building has been remodeled during the summer and will be used for all the school offices. ~All the buildings have been cleaned and decorated and much new equipment added. Announce Congregation "Holyday" Observances A special "Holiday" service will be held by the North Shore Congrega- tion at the Winnetka Congregational church, Friday evening, September 25, at 8:15 o'clock. Rabbi Harvey E. Wes- sel, will be in charge, the subject being, "The Eternal Now." In the following week the congrega- tion will hold services in observance of Yom Kippur, on" Sunday and Monday. The religious school will begin sessions Sunday morning, October 4. A CORRECTION In real estate transfers listed in the Real Estate section of WINNETKA Tax, issue of September 5, it was announced that part of Block 20, in Glencoe, had been sold to Dorothy S.
