Warble, manager, to Warble Storage and Furniture company, now located at 1217 Wilmette avenue, Wilmette. Robert P. Smith started a furniture repair shop on Central avenue near the railroad tracks in Wilmette twenty years ago. About seven years later George R. Duce became a partner in the business adding the moving of household goods in Wil- mette and on the north shore and a department devoted to the sale of both used and new furniture which has developed so extensively that the firm now sells to all sections of Chi- cago and the north shore. J. P. Warble purchased the Duce business about six years ago and has increased and improved the busi- ness to a remarkable degree. A new Packard Motor van has been purchased recently and, with other motor and horse vans, the concern is equipped for local and long- distance transferring of household effects. The packing, crating and shipping department is equipped to handle an extensive business. The department of upholstering and re- finishing employs artisans who pro- duce high class workmanship. The Warble Storage and Furniture company recently obtained a permit from the Village of Wilmette to erect a modern fireproof storage and ware- house on West Railroad avenue in the block south of Wilmette avenue. This establishment will be the only structure of its kind between Evans- ton and Highland Park and is looked upon as a necessity by the residents of the north shore. The warehouse is to be operated on a co-operative basis. Special departments are to be provided for furniture sales, up- holstering, refinishing and repairing, thus keeping the employes busy throughout the year. MILLINERY SHOP FINDS GOOD EVEN IN THE TORNADO Miss Rambo, who directs activities at L. C. Rambo & Company, distinc- tive millinery, at 1168 Wilmette ave- nue, Wilmette, is a plucky business woman. In the recent tornado which wrought havoc in many business es- tablishments in the village the Ram- bo millinery shop suffered along with many other places. Miss Rambo has this to say: "Having suffered slight from the spring tornado we find it necessary to "put our house in or- der." Again its an ill wind that blows no good. Even a tornado has good qualities. It gave us an inspir- ation to make our shop more attrac- tive for our customers.
