4 WINNETKA TALK October 17, 1925 WINNETKA EXHIBIT IS MECCA AT STATE EXPO Panorama Painting of Village Done by Allen Philbrick At- tracts Visiting Throngs Winnetka's contribution to the Illi- nois Products exposition at the Ex- position Palace, Chicago, pictured on the cover of this issue of Winnetka Talk was inspected by many thousands of visitors at the exposition this week, and to say that the observers were in- terested, would be putting the matter a bit too mildly. The beautiful 20-foot panorama painting of the village, done by Allen Philbrick, local artist was an inviting sight, especially to the city-dwelling contingent among the spectators. Members of the Winnetka Chamber of Commerce were at the booth every day during the exhibition ready to answer any questions regarding the village. The Illinois Products Exposition was a remarkable display of the diversified activities of the state in regard to its agricultural, mining, and industrial output. There were to be seen manu- factures ranging from pins to pianos, the products of enormous oil fields near Lawrenceville, Cairo's coal and cotton and other products of the "land of plenty"; beautiful grain and fruit from the great corn fields and or- chards of central Illinois; dairy prod- ucts and samples of the enormous out- put of the great industrial centers, among which, of course, Chicago was most prominent. Every section of the state was represented. It was estimated that the total number of visitors to the exposition would exceed 250,000.
