November 14, 1925 WINNETKA TALK 11 -- HEAR NOTED ARTISTS North Shore Art League Opens New Season With Sketch Exhibition and Dinner; Meet Again December 10 The North Shore Art league opened its winter's season with a sketch ex- hibition and dinner held in Rudolph Matz hall at Community House, Win- ndtka, last Thursday evening. Each member had on display two sketches which had been completed during the past summer and there was also an interesting collection of small pic- tures. Many familiar views about the north shore were noticeable as well as etchings, crayon pastels and minia- tures. The idea of expansion of the league was received with enthusiasm by those present. © Mrs. Frank Peyraud, her- self an artist, and one of the speakers of the evening, suggested that classes for instruction under a notable art leader be formed. Among the speakers at the dinner were Mr, Dickerson of the University of Chicago, who told of the early days of 'art in Chicago and its en- virons, and of its outgrowth and op- portunities today, Percy B. Eckhart, who spoke on present day art, Mrs. Albert Ullrich, who told of plans for the art exhibition at the Evanston Woman's club in December, James Cady Ewell, chairman of exhibitions, 10 spoke of the need for a per- anent home for the league, and ita Willits Burnham, who made kpiows plans for the winter program. RAILROAD CLUB TO MEET The Chicago and North Western Proman's club - will hold its regular neéting Wednesday, November 18, at 2 o'clock. The program will be in charge of Mrs. Rosalie Dieder. The procession was staged in the morning, and visited Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka and Glencoe. The floats were decorated by the various adviser rooms, the first prize going to Pearly Hurlbert and the second to Betty Mulford. The judges were Helen Fraser, Charles Roth and Milton Emrich. New Trier was beaten by Waukegan High school in the foot- ball game. BUSY WITH CONVENTIONS Life for a regional director for the National League of Women Voters consists of crowded hours, and Mrs. William G. Hibbard of Winnetka finds her days hardly long enough, with the six day national board meeting held in Washington last week, and the Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan state league conventions to attend this week, and a four day Kentucky state convention in Lexington during. the coming week requiring her atention as fourth regional director.
