4 WINNETKA TALK November 14, 1925 ANNOUNCE CHANGE IN DATES OF CONCERTS Next Appearance of Symphony Players of Chicago Will Be Tuesday, November 24 Changes in the dates of the concerts given by the Symphony Players of Chicago will defer the concert orig- inally. scheduled for November 16 to Tuesday, November 24, it was an- nounced this week by officials of the New Trier Orchestral association, which is sponsoring the concerts. The reasons for the change of dates are set forth in the accompanying letter directed to members of the as- sociation by Homer F. Horton, presi- dent. The letter also embodies an appeal for continued close co-oper- ation between the members of the association and those who have been charged with the duty of supervising the concerts. Mr. Horton's letter also announces the appearance with the orchestra, on November 24, of Miss Catherine Wade Smith; violinist, winner of the nation- al competition of the Federation of Music clubs, The letter reads: : Explains Change of Dates "It . has been found necessary to change the dates of most of the con- certs. . Will you please mark the new dates on your tickets as it will not be possible to send a separate notice before each concert. "New dates: Tuesday, November 24, Monday, December 14, (original date) Tuesday, January 12, Tuesday, Feb- ruary 9, Tuesday, March 23, Tues- day, April 6. "Most of you know that we do not have the first call on the services of the musicians who have been playing for us. It has been necessary to agrée to "a Certain latitude of dates if we were to have concerts at all. The original evenings were chosen with great care but complications have de- veloped that make these' changes un- avoidable. We have assurance, how- ever, that the new dates can be counted on. "As subscribers to season tickets, you are members of the Orchestral asso- ciation. Your directors hope that you feel yourselves to be real partners in this enterprise of bringing symphonic music to our doors. They hope and believe that your sense of partnership is strong enough to support whatever may be necessary to make these con- certs a permanent part of our com- munity life. The officers are eager, al- ways, to have your ideas and sug- gestions. Plea For Co-operation "It seems to Mr. Dasch and to the directors that it will be a fine thing for us to present, as soloists, some of the young artists of undoubted talent who merit recognition. On No- vember 24, therefore, we are present- ing Miss Catherine Wade Smith, violinist, who won the national com- petition of the Federation of Music clubs. The program will open with the gay overture to "The Merry Wives of Windsor," and close with the stirring "Marche Hongroise," with some rich things in between. Don't forget to miark the new dates."
