18 WINNETKA TALK November 21, 1925 COMPLIMENTARY PLAY Well Known Amateurs Give "Blayds" performance for Theatre Guild Members in Recognition of Diligence BY OBSERVER In compliment to its membership committees that have been doing yoe- man service this fall, the North Shore Theatre Guild put on a gala perform- ance of "The Truth About Blayds" at the Evanston Woman's club Mon- day night with the following cast: Oliver Blayds ..... Percy B. Eckhart Isabel Blayds Erma Blaine McKendry William Blayds Conway. Samuel Otis Oliver Blayds Conway ............ aR PL se Melvin Wamboldt Septiam Blayds Conway .......... SER OTE ETERS Virginia Fitzhugh A. 1. Royce ..... J. Williams Macy Director, Alexander Dean. The absolute finish of this repro- duction, and the precision and delicacy with which it brings out every nuance of Milne's subtly caustic study of Everyman's morals, gives rise to the joyful reflection that we no longer have to go downtown to see good plays. The mountain has come to Mahomet. The splendid teamwork of the cast did not preclude ex- cellent individual characterizations. Mr. Eckhart made a poignant figure in his brief appearance as the old poet. Miss Fitzhugh and Mr. Wam- boldt did clever work as representa- tives of self centered .youth. Mr. Macy played Roger with a distinction especially good in the exquisite love scene that forms the romantic interest in the play. Mrs. McKendry with her ability as an actress, combined with her charmingly modulated voice, made Isabel an appealing character. No one can ever be the same again after seeing Mr. Otis' superb William, and that tears of joy were observed to trickle freely from many more or less hard-boiled eves at Mrs. Laird Bell's delineation of the Heart of Gold. It is hoped that Winnetka people will soon have an opportunity to see this fine play. 3 ol 2 Cruises to the | WEST INDIES S. S. Montroyal from New York Jan. 28 and Mar. 1, 1926 its worst back home.
