Hale will open her home at 900 Willow road at 3 o'clock, Monday afternoon, February 15, for a tea for the new members of the Win- netka League of Women Voters' and for the league board of directors. Mrs. James W. Morrison, president of the state league, will be the guest of honor and will give a short address, welcom- ing the new members and telling of the work of the league. Mme. Gilderoy Scott, contralto, who is an assistant of William Shakespeare in the Fine Arts building, will give a delightful program of songs. Mme. Scott came to New York from London in 1915 with an established reputation in opera and oratorio. After repeated successes in New York, where she sang with the leading orchestras and orato- rio societies, she came to Chicago and soon became well known in concert and church activities. She has returned to Chicago this season after five years' residence in the West. Women's Group to Hear of Work at Doshisha College Prof. Darley Downs has just re- turned, on furlough, from his work in the great Doshisha university of Kyo- to, Japan, and will speak at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, February 17, in Community House under the auspices of the Women's society committee on World Friendship. For many the years the fifth grade in the Church school of the Winnetka Congregational church has studied and made contributions to the Doshisha. Fifth grade parents therefore will be especially interested in order to be "up- to-date" with their children. The morning will also be made at- tractive by songs presented by Mrs. George B. Ogan, and will close with the usual brief devotional services con- ducted by Mrs. E. E. Brown. Luncheon will be served for those who plan to remain for afternoon sew- ing. ANTICIPATE MASQUERADE The North Shore Dance and Card club will sponsor a masquerade frolic, the first informal affair of the season, Saturday, February 20, at the Winnet- ka Masonic temple.
