February 13, 1926 WINNETKA TALK 15 MacDowell Society Enjoys Talk by AJ ' hd Composer's Wife The last meeting of the North Shore MacDowell society held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Asa B. Cooley of Hubbard Woods was a particularly in- interesting one owing to the presence of Mrs. Edward MacDowell. Mrs. Cooley opened the program with a group of songs by Tschaikowsky, Ed- wards, Sjorgren, Dvorak and Bantock, with Mrs. Everett Harris accompany- ing her at the piano. Mrs. MacDowell then told of the colony at Petersborough, N. H., illu- strating her talk with stereopticon views. She announced the gift of a new build- ing to house the Humiston library, a bequest of the late William Henry Humiston, which is perhaps one of the finest private collections of music in this country. An interesting feature of the even- ing was the unveiling of a bronze bust of Mrs. MacDowell, done last summer at Petersborough, by Ida McClellan Stout of Chicago. This is the gift of Mrs. Milton B. Blouke to the Mac- Dowell colony where it will be placed permanently later in the season. It is now on exhibition at the Woman's City club of Chicago.
