Peher S. Peterson, after years of study in the largest nurseries of Sweden, Germany and Belgium, came to Chicago in 1856 and started a nursery of his own on what is now Peterson avenue just west of Lincoln avenue. This pioneer nursery has long been known as Peterson Nursery, and since the death of its founder has been conducted by his son, William A. Peter- son. Now the subdivider has come along and bought the land which for two generations has been furnishing the trees, shrubs and flowers for the beauti- ful homes in and around Chicago. Many of the wonderful trees planted in the parks of Chicago and lining the boulevards came from this nursery. The nursery will "close its doors" and quit after the spring season is over. In the meantime anybody wishing to purchase shrubs, trees, fruits or peren- nial flowers for the lawn and garden can drive out to Peterson Nursery and get them for less than one half the published prices. Beals, in charge of the R. O. T. C. in the Chicago high schools and in command of Camp Roosevelt in the summer, has just announced from his offices at the Board of Education, that, through the efforts of Angus S Hibbard, chairman of the Camp Roose- velt association, Secretary of War Dwight F. Davis has authorized the continuance of the high school camp on the Fort Sheridan military reserva- tion. This means that Camp Roose- velt will occupy the same site that it occupied in the summer of 1925, As a résult of a conference with Wil- liam McAndrews, Superintendent of Schools, Major General William S. Graves, Brigader General Michael J. Lenihan, in command at Fort Sheridan, and Mr. Hibbard, plans have been com- pleted and work on the camp will be started immediately in order that everything may be ready on thé open- ing date, June 28. The summer high school, with Capt. J. C. Thompson again in charge as principal, will be under canvas, mak- ing it a real camp school. A large as- sembly and study tent in addition to the tents for recitation purposes will be provided. The schoo! will be located in the same area with the tent camp which will simplify supervision and control. The whole camp will be on the ground west of the 600 yard firing point on the target range, the most ideal camp site in the middle west. There are ample drill and parade grounds, athletic fields, places for the classes in horsemanship, and all within easy reach of the finest beach on the north shore. With the background of Fort Sheri- dan, one of the army's crack military posts, which will be occupied by three other large contigents for training in addition to the garrison of regular troops, Major Beals anticipates that many new thrills await those who at- tend Camp Roosevelt.
