pes or» 4 ---- 4 ¥ April 17, 1926 WINNETKA TALK 13 New Trier High School Conducts Dental Survey New Trier high school is conducting a dental survey of its entire student body numbering approximately 1,400, in connection with its heaim program, this week and the early part of next week. Sixteen dentists, from the various north shore communities in which the stu- dents of the school live, are spending an hour at the school several mornings each week examining the teeth of the pupils. Charts showing the dental work needed by each student are being prepared and students will be asked to have this work attended to by their own dentisfs and to present certificates showing that it has been done. It is hoped to have these certificates by the middle of May, it was said. AT ALUMNAE TEA A number of Winnetka members of the Illinois Alumnae association are planning to attend the tea Saturday afternoon, April 17, at the home of Mrs. Alfred Kuehn, 220 South Ridge- land avenue, Oak Park, which the west side group of the University of Illinois alumnae is sponsoring. The affair is given in honor of Mrs. Charles Den- nis, president, and of all past presi- dents. GOES SOUTH Lane Varney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Varney, accompanied his grand- father, J. A. Lowry of Wilmette, to Florida, departing last Sunday for the Lowry winter home, where Miss Louise Varney has been visiting her grandmother for the winter months. The entire party will return to Win- netka May 1. Word comes from Mrs. Katherina Brand, mother of Mrs. Fred Schwall of 797 Cherry street that she is enjoying her stay in California and will not re- turn until the middle of May. Observe Music Week in Winnetka May 2 Plans are now under way for the celebration of the opening of National | Music Week, which will take place in | Rudolph Matz hall Sunday, May 2, at 7:30 o'clock. Various groups are preparing to par- ticipate in the program, and there is more enthusiasm in their planning than ever before, it is said. This is Win- netka's fifth annual celebration of this nature. Rabbi Harvey Wessel has been se- cured to make the short address of the evening. There will be several unique features on the program, and Winnet- kans are urged to reserve the evening of May 2 for their family's participa- tion in this annual "sing-fest." Emilie Hoyt's Betrothal Announced by Her Mother Mrs. Phelps B. Hoyt, 40 Cedar street, Chicago, formerly of Winnetka, announces the engagement of her | daughter, Miss Emilie, to Dexter Cum- mings, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. Mark Cummings of Chicago and Lake lor- est. Miss Hoyt was graduated from Dobbs Ferry, and passed a year abroad before making her debut last winter. Mr. Cummings was graduated from St. Mark's in 1921 and from Yale in 1925. The wedding date has not been set. Maxey Barrett, little son of Mr. and Mrs. A. M.
