Rubbish Fires Lead in Chief Houren's Records The Winnetka Fire department was called to the office of the Scully Trans- fer company, in the Prouty Annex, Thursday afternoon, by a small blaze which developed in some inexplainable mahner in an awning. The damage was small, only about $20. Chief G. M. Houren and his men, in addition to the Scully fire, have re- sponded to nine calls since April 30, all of which were rubbish fires and only three of which resulted in any damage. On April 30, a garage at 1030 Hub- bard lane, at the residence of George B. Calkins, was damaged about $20, and on the same date the department was called to the Jackson residence, 391 Provident avenue to extinguish a fire of spontaneous combustion origin, in some rubbish in the basement. A fire on May 1, spreading from some burning rubbish, damaged the garage at the residence of Mrs. Julius Eckhart, to the extent of about $50. Who | Asks Complete Attendance at Ravinia Club Meeting The Winnetka committee for Ravinia | will meet at the home of the chairman, | Mrs. John Vennema, Friday, May 14 at 10:30 o'clock, in the morning. Plans will be made for the coupon book sales for Ravinia for the summer. Tt is the desire of the chairman that all | committee be | the women on the present. The season will open Saturday night, June 26. A number of the outstanding artists of the world of opera will sing | in roles at Ravinia this summer. Their names will be announced in a later issue.
