Chandlers FOUNTAIN SQUARE--EVANSTON Carry Leading Roles Two young women who have dis- tinguished themselves in previously produced amateur dramatic offerings, carry the leading roles in "The Goose Hangs High," this season's dramatic presentation by St. Luke's Episcopal Gamma Kappa Delta players. When the play is presented Friday evening, May 21, in the parish house, Miss Margaret Sterrett of Winnetka will appear in the role of Eunice In- galls in Lewis Beach's popular comedy, typifying the American woman who sacrifices everything that her children may go to college. Miss Sterrett has played all along the North Shore in amateur dramatics. Miss Susanna Packham, who as Lois Ingalls was cast for the lead in "Robin Hood" recently given by School of Speech students at Northwestern uni- versity, had an important role in the Young Women's Auxiliary play, "The Whole Town's Talking," and played in "The New Poor," the Gamma Kappa Delta play of last season. For Captain Otto Fricke, the venerable custodian of the government life-saving station, and his crew of old salts have been working overtime these days getting the equipment of the station in readiness for the opening of the busy season. "Aye, and we are well enough pre- pared for anything that might happen along the lake," said the captain this week as he superintended a crew at work on the big life boat which is al- ways ready to shoot down the run- way into the lake. "We get all set over here and wait for some landlubber to come along and get into trouble," said Captain Fricke, who has helped pull many an Evans- tonian out of the water and has as- sisted numerous broken down motor boats and sailing crafts back to harbor. "The station has a complete com- plement of men this year. We have eight good men and true who will be always on the lookout for mishaps. We have already started our outdoor drills and the boys are leaning to with a hearty good will." The big steamers and freighters are beginning to run now, according to the captain. Every hour sees some big boat pull out of Chicago harbor and labor up the lake. Mr. and Mrs. Julius Wald have re- cently moved here from Chicago to their home at 415 Maple avenue. --C Mr. and Mrs. I.
