Last week, the school received a visit from a distinguished gentleman, Prof. J. A. Benshahar, Ph. L., of Gen- eva, Switzerland, president general of the World Union of Associations for the Blind, Inc. Professor Benshahar | is making a world tour visiting places | where work for the blind is carried on, and said he had_made a special point | of coming to Winnetka to visit the Hadley school. | Another visitor this week was Miss | Adelia M. Hoyt, national head of the | department of work for the blind of | the American Red Cross, Washington, DC The Hadley Correspondence school is the subject of one of the papers to be presented at the annual meeting of the Kansas association for the Blind, to be held at Kansas City, Kansas, May 29-31. [ On Speaking Tour | Early in June William A. Hadley, icimder of the school will address the Alumni association of the Illinois school for the Blind, at the annual banquet at the school in Jacksonville, IL. On June 22, Mr. Hadley will speak at the biennial convention of American Instructors for 'the Blind, to be held at Nashville, Tenn. Like Insurance Course There is considerable activity in the new Life Insurance course. As mem- tioned recently, one man is already selling insurance. Two other students have completed the course, and their appointments as agents are pending. A recent investigation disclosed the fact that the average age of Hadley students is 38. The age ranges ex- tensively, the youngest student being a boy of 16, the oldest a man of 80. During the summer the school hopes to put in one or perhaps two new courses. Invite Young People to Michigan Summer Camps Young people of the Winnetka Con- gregational church are making plans to attend one of the summer confer- ence camps at Tower Hill, Mich, where for a week in June and a week in July some 150 young people from Illinois churches get together for a season of work, play and fellowship. The Rev. Thomas A. Goodwin, who is to be dean of the first camp again this year, June 16 to 22, will be glad to answer any questions about the camp, it is announced. WILL SELL POPPIES Marcus D. Richards, chairman of Poppy Day announces that the follow- ing Winnetka women will help the American Legion in selling poppies May 28: Mesdames Frank Blatchford, Ayres Boal, A. Lee Adams, William Ogden Coleman, George W. Perrizo, Elliot Fisher, Ernest Ellis, Fred Rich- ardson, Richard H, Fairclough, Thom- as Lynch, Harold Lynn, R. N. Puetz, Marcus Richards, and Miss Lucia Perrigo. Residents are urged again to buy poppies in their own town. Wilson Decamp, 615 Abbottsford road, left Kenilworth Wednesday to attend a track meet at Kemper Military academy, Booneville, Mo. He will re- main there for a few days' visit. He was formerly a student at the academy.
