The one-thing that seems to be ab- solutely impossible these days is to hear anything else spoké™of except the Pageant! Everybody up at New Trier seems to eat, sleep and work with the pageant uppermost in thought all "the time. And no wonder; for there are rehearsals of the produc- tion every night after school, at which sections of the cast--so large is it in its entirety, that as yet, it would be impossible to take them all at once-- go through their dances, or their lines, or their pantomime. Since many of the students at New Trier are taking part, as well as quite a few alumni and members of the faculty, it is not to be marvelled at, that the whole town- ship hums with excitement over this | great event which is coming June 14 and 15 Alumni Respond Has someone said that is was only ----------e -- Duncan Studios 815 Elm St. Winn., Ill. THE BOOK NOOK . A Rental Library of Current Fiction a township affair? - Then, let that per- son re-consider his words, for the New Trier office has heard from alumni all over the country; they have had letters from Florida and from Cali- fornia, offering encouragement for producing the pagement, giving in- formation which has been useful in the many kinds of work to be done on the pageant, and above all, expressing de- light and eager anticipation of attend- ing the performances. Also, the New Trier office is sending out letters of invitation to the hundreds of alumni all over the states, notifying them of the exact date, both of the pageant and alumni day, which will be the sec- ond day of the pageant itself. With alumni, and sons and daughters of alumni in the huge cast of over 250 characters, there will be no need tp urge people to attend; on the contrary, so many are expected to come from far and near, that the production staff anticipate overflowing houses both nights. After the program, Tuesday night, June 15, there will be a recep- tion in the balcony dining room of the mess hall for all alumni, in honor of the author of the pageant, C. Russell Small, and in honor of the two first graduates of New Trier, Miss Maude Mary McBroom and Bennett McAl- lister. There are many who have tremendous surprises in store for them- selves in thus again visiting New Trier, viewing its astonishing growth and partaking in this great commemorat- ing festivity of her twenty-fifth anni- versary. Poster Contest Underway Another feature of the work on the pageant at present, is the poster con- test which closes on May 28. That leaves only another week in which to submit posters, either for window show cards or outdoor posters. Nine large bill-board posters have already been made to be placed on Sheridan road, while many other smaller posters and about 60 show cards have been en- tered. A great deal of publicity is being given by the speech-making which several students of the school are carrying on in the various clubs. Robert Kenyon and Robert Cressy, with their committee, have been talk- ing to the men's clubs of the villages about the pageant, and Virginia Haight and her committee have been doing similar work in the women's clubs of all types. Still another very important feature of the pageant comes to light. That is the publication and sale of the Souvenir Booklet. The editing is in progress right now, printing will be done next week, and soon the sale of the booklets will be started. The Girls' club of New Trier will have complete charge of the sale of the booklet, of which 1500 copies have been ordered. Already subscriptions are being taken from alumni by mail The book will be a beautiful thing containing much information of various types. Part One will contain, first of all, the foreword by Miss Elizabeth Packer and the dedication. Then there will be a synopsis of the story de- picted in the pageant, followed by the text itself. A photo of the author will be printed, photos of costumes and scenes of the pageant, the entire cast will be given, and also the organ- ization for the production of the page- ant, including with the directors and musicians, the stage crew, the lighting and properties committee, and every- one who has had anything at all to do with the presentation of the affair. Give Historical Data Part Two will be historical in nature, giving views of New Trier as it used to be and as it is, photos of its pres- ent faculty and Board of Education as well as pictures of those who have been with New Trier from its earliest years. There will be a section devoted to the history of New Trier, another to "Do you remember "way back when," still another to the "Who's Who of New Trier," and one section devoted to the Gold Star Heroes of New Trier. Altogether it will be an engrossing piece of work, one which everyone will want to keep forever. It will be enclosed in a lovely cover of fine stock in colors, white and green. The front of the cover will carry the title, "Twenty-fifth Anniver- sary Pageant," and the work of the cover will be decorated by a figure of "Enlightenment." GIVE BEACH PICNIC The Winnetka Sunday evening club, an organization of young people which has been meeting at the Community House every Sunday evening for dis- cussion of various subjects, will hold its last meeting of the season Sunday evening, May 23. This will be in the form of a beach picnic at Lake Front park. ONES jJ ELECTRIC SERVICE PHONE | WINNETKA | ©1848 © {3 CARLTON} BLDG. \ \7I5 OAK ST.
