Mrs. Marion E. Cotton, music supervisor of New Trier high school, has been chosen by the Federation to manage this first national contest. The winner of the second prize was Alice Shirinian, also of Wilmette, a freshman at New Trier high school. Seng, owner of the Village theatre, J. B. Koppel, man- ager, and Milton Hoskins, organist. Mr. Hoskins arranged a special pro- gram of music which was played dur- ing the picture on the occasion men- tioned. Entrants in the contest were required to recognize the number and the composer. Moving pictures all over the country played a part in the preliminaries of this first national con- test. In addition to the trip to At- lantic City, George Eton was awarded a one year scholarship at the Chicago Musical college as a prize. Monday, May 24, is the occasion of the annual tag day in Chicago and its suburbs for the Chicago Federa- Charities. Two organizations will have taggers in Wilmette on that day. Kindergarten College to Witness Its Spring Prom The Spring prom of the National Kindergarten and Elementary college will be held in the Evanston Country club Saturday evening, May 22. This dance is given under the auspices of the junior and freshman classes in honor of the seniors, and Miss Wini- fred Wilson, president of the junior class, and Miss Clara Locke, president of the freshman class, are joint chair- men of the committee in charge of the occasion. QUOITS TOURNEY ON In contrast with the more strenuous exercises comprising the major por- tion of the play activity, the North Shore Country Day school has in- stituted, for its restricted play and for general amusement, a number of ranges for the throwing of horseshoe quoits. A tournament is in progress which is arousing much good natured enthusiasm on the part of excited par- ticipants and partisans.
