SEE SNE SE ov Tennis Stars Meet at Skokie Opening Sunday Afternoon Tennis fans of the north shore are promised a gala time over the week- end holiday period what with three exhibition matches, bringing interna- tionally known players, arranged by the Tennis committee of the Skokie Country club. Beginning at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, May 30, the fans will wit- ness a series of matches including two singles and one doubles event. In the singles Wray D. Brown will be pitted against George M. Lott, Jr, while John Hennessey will engage Lucien E. Williams. The doubles will find Lott and Wil- liams paired off against Hennessey and Brown. Sunday's matches will mark the for- mal opening of the tennis season at Skokie and it promises to be a notable inaugural since all of the contestants are young men who are gradually working their way to the top of the lad- der in the national net competitions. All of them have a sound, well de- veloped game, it is explained, and possess plenty of endurance and a wealth of fighting spirit. Lott follows as number eleven, and Williams has the twelfth position. Hennessey ranked seventh in 1925 but was unable to play through the entire season so was not ranked this year on account of insufficient data. These exhibition matches are for Skokie members and their guests and there will be no entrance charge, it is explained. Offer Attractive Rates on C. N. W. Over Holiday The Chicago and North Western roalroad is offering to its patrons un- usually attractive rates for the week- end holiday period which provides round-trip journeys to points on that road out of Chicago at the cost of a one-way fare, plus twenty-five cents, where the one-way fare is not in ex- cess of eight dollars. This special rate is effective at all stations on the road east of the Missouri river, it is ex- plained. Children from 5 to 12 years of age will travel at half-fare on the basis of the holiday rate, while young- er children will travel free when ac- companied by parents. Officials of the road explain that this holiday rate is the most radical de- parture in excursion rates ever ef- fected in this vicinity. The rate will be in effect from May 29 to midnight of June 1.
