ad 13 June 26, 1926 WINNETKA TALK 11 Winnetka Defeats Drexel Maroons in Game at Playfield The Winnetka baseball team defeated the Drexel Maroons of Chicago by a score of 10 to 2 last Sunday. Smith of the home nine duplicated his strike- out record of the previous Sunday by whiffing twelve men, and allowing but two hits. A shut-out seemed in- evitable, but a couple of errors, com- bined with a walk, scored two runs for the visitors. Winnetka got atter Linn, Maroon pitcher, in the second inning. After two were out, Knox singled to right, and Carpenter walked. Carey worked the count to three balls and two strikes and then slashed a double to left, scoring two runs. From then on Winnetka had the game much in their own favor, Russ Smith led the day's attack with a double and two singles, in five trips to the plate. Runnfeldt, Knox and Carey each garnered two hits apiece for their day's work. Tomorrow Waukegan will invade the Playfield park. As this team defeated the home boys three weeks ago, by a score of 5 to 4, the game is looked forward to as a tough one. In the last game, Smith of the home team and Bush of Waukegan hooked up in a pitching duel, the latter winning out when Smith tired in the ninth and permitted three runs. The following Sunday Winnetka will take on the fast-stepping Chi-Pals of Chicago. On the Fourth of July Wil- mette will play the first game of a two-game series here. Monday, the fifth of July, the Winnetka boys will engage Wilmette at Wilmette in the morning, and will travel to North- brook to play in the afternoon. Every- one is invited to attend the games. All games at Playfield park at 3 o'clock. | Poster Made by Winnetka Shows at Exposition Attractive hand-painted posters of Y. W. C.
