38 WINNETKA TALK June 26, 1926 New Trier Has Record Summer School Enrollment New Trier high school's summer ses- sion opened on Monday of this week with the record enrollment of nearly 600 pupils. According to W. L. Brown, principal of the summer school, the ac- tual number will fall between 575 and 600, some changes making it impossible to state a definite figure as yet. Most of the pupils who are attending the summer session are taking at least fundamentals, such as mathematics, history, language and so forth. Many of the pupils who have entered the summer session did so with the object of completing their high school course in less than four years, it was said. Several teachers of the Joseph Sears school are planning a summer abroad. The Misses Caroline and Nell Littler and Miss Elizabeth Langworthy, ac- companied by her mother, will spend the summer traveling through Europe. EASTERN STAR TO MEET The regular meeting of Winnetka chapter, No. 942, Order of the Eastern Star, will be held Monday evening, June 28, at 7:30, in its chapter room in the Masonic temple. Nippersink Lodge is located about fifty miles from the north shore and possesses what has been termed one of the finest eighteen-hole golf courses in this section of the country. It also has a nine-hole auxiliary course and possesses a thoroughly modern hotel, it is said. Excellent tennis courts and a fine bathing beach afford other means of sport. The hotel, it is pointed out, is beau- tifully appointed and contains a cui- sine suited to the most fastidious taste. Food products are taken for the most part right from the dairy and poultry farm nearby. Only hotel guests and owners of cottages are permitted to fish in the waters of Tombeau lake. Lake Wheeler is located about 165 miles from the north shore and all the property surrounding it, is owned by the Oconto Resort association. It is about one-half miles long and a mile wide. It is the plan of the owners to make of it the "Nippersink of the North." The lake contains two virgin wooded islands. Many cottages already adorn the lake and a modern hotel is planned. A golf course is in contem- plation. Heinsen and Kroll have re- served fourteen choice water {front lots on this lake for their north shore clientelle. Riparian rights on both Lake Tombeau and Lake Wheeler are available at moderate cost, it is stated. ne OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY i EH HN LTT Your own garden makes the most picturesque back- ground for the portrait of the in- dividual, the fam- ily group, or the kiddies at play.
