Marmon North Shore IN TWELFTH SEASON |group of artists who will appear dur- | | Winnetka Music Club to Enter Upon New Year Next Autumn With Tite Schipa as Recitalist The Winnetka Music club, the or- ganization that has sponsored the Art- ist-Recital series at New Trier audi- torium, bringing to the north shore such famous artists as Madame Louise Homer, Gabrilowitch, Edward John- son, Brailowsky, Giannini and many others, has completed its eleventh year of active work. Founded by Mrs. Edwin Snell, in 1915, with a membership of seven, this club has steadily gone ahead with its good purpose, of bringing pleasure and benefit to itself and the community. The seven original members were Mrs. Edwin Snell, Mrs. Valona Brewer, Meg. William Jackson, Miss Mabel Higgins, Miss Elizabeth Layman, Mrs. Hervey Anning, Mrs. Jesse Ricks, and Mrs. Percival Hunter. Limited now to thirty members, the club meets at the homes of different members. Programs are given by the members, who are occasionally assist- ed by visiting artists. In 1924, Mrs. Roland Whitman, who was president, conceived the idea of the Artist-Recital series, considered one of the most outstanding accom- plishments of the club. Enthusiastic over last year's suc- cessful series under the chairmanship of Mrs. Whitman, the club has ar- ranged for an unusual and brilliant ody: greater comfort with OIL. The first concert will be given by Tito Schipa, tenor, well known to Ra- vinia lovers, and a brilliant member of the Chicago Civic Opera company. Cecilia Hansen, violinist, who will give the second concert, is sometimes called the greatest woman violinist of today. Guiomar Novaes, pianist, who has been called the greatest woman pian- ist of the present, appears on the third program. The remarkable English ensemble singers, brought to this country by Mrs. F. S. Coolidge to ap- pear in her Library of Congress Fes- tival in Washington last spring, will give the fourth concert. And Maria Kurenko, Russian soprano, famous for her voice and famous as a lawyer, will complete the series.
