Fire Damages Portion of C. and N. W. Station Roof A fire in the west gable of the de- pot of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad company, at Elm street, Fri- day evening of last week at about 10 o'clock, resulted in estimated dam- age to the building of about $200 and slight injury to William Scully, one of the firemen, who sustained an ugly wound on the left cheek from a piece of slate falling from the roof. The fire started up near the roof, adjacent to where the wires enter the building, and it is presumed was caus- ed by some defects in the wiring. It was necessary to make an opening in the slate roof to get at the blaze. It was then soon extinguished, without having to use a great deal of chemical or water. Mr. Scully, the injured fireman, was given first aid treatment by Richard Houren, son of Chief Houren, follow- ing which Dr. Albert H. Wales, dress- ed the wound. Scully was able to resume his duties.
