(45 WINNETKA TALK July 10, 1926 Christian Science Churches "God" was the subject of the Les- son-Sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, Sunday, July 4. The Golden Text was from Psalms 62:7, "In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God." Among the citations which comprised the Lesson-Sermon was the following from the Bible: "For I am persuaded, at neither death, nor life, jor an- gels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other crea- ture, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38, 39). The Lesson-Sermon also included the following passage from the Chris:- ian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scrpitures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "God is the creator of man, and, the divine Prin- ciple of man remaining perfect, the divine idea or reflection, man, remains perfect. Man is the expression of God's being" (p. 470). ESTABLISH RESEARCH FUND The Board of Trustees of the Uni- versity of Illinois has announced the establishment by several public utility companies of Illinois of a fund of $40,000 for research purposes. The school will investigate boiler feed wa- ter treatment, ageing of porcelain, car axle failures, impact in steel struc- tures, and methods of testing high- voltage electric cables. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Aishton have returned to Winnetka Mont- clair, N. J., and will live in their home from at 399 Ridge avenue. More Dependable )) Than Ever - - Dodge Brothers, Inc, achieved third place in world production this Spring because they have been able --WITH- OUT SACRIFICING FUNDAMEN- TALS --steadily to improve the smart- ness of their product. Owners and engineers know well that mechanically the car is sturdier than ever--cost of upkeep lower--and per- formance more dependable. Refinements and lower prices have been made possible by spectacular increases in sales. Not by violating the basic tenet of Dodge Brothers success: NEVER TO LOWER QUALITY IN A SINGLE DETAIL. Winnetka Winn. 165 DonDce BROTHERS MOTOR CARS EIGHTS GAIN FAVOR President of Hupp Motor Company Sees Trend Toward the Straight Eight In the fine car field, the trend is undoubtedly toward eight cylinder cars, in the opinion of Charles D. Hastings, president and general man- ager of the Hupp Motor Car corpora- tion. In support of his conclusion, Mr. Hastings points out that sales of eight cylinder cars during 1925 more than doubled, and that more than five times as many straight eights were bought in 1925 as in 1924. Their sales to date for 1926 are more than twice their 1925 level. "There is, without question, a mo- mentous change taking place in the choice of fine cars," he says. "Buyers last year invested more than $150,000,- 000 in eight cylinder cars. This year they are actually in the process of doubling that investment, of which at least half will be for the straight eight, or eight in line type of engine. "What is happening in the purchase of fine cars goes deeper, however, than the mention of mere dollar volume. It has to do with the way the Amer- ican public is thinking in terms of fine cars and fine-car performance. It goes straight back to the actual demonstra- tion and proof--every day and all over America--of the new kind of perform- ance and value offered in this type of car. "It is an uprooting from the public mind of the old-fashioned idea that mere price or name must necessarily mean prestige. Discriminating motor car buyers, rather, are now sensing the prestige of super-fine performance --the prestige, if you will, or the new- est and best, when those are the pro- per development of a super-efficient principle." Raymond and Robert Stephens, sons of Mr. and Mrs. C. Stephens, 1433 Asbury avenue, will return tomorrow from a three weeks' motor trip through the Black Hills. They camped as they went, and were accompanied by Walter Quinby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter W. Quinby, 1282 Asbury ave- nue.
