July 24, 1926 WINNET KA TALK PHOTOGS HOLD MEET National Photographers' Association Will Hold Convention in Chicago Soon The greatest exhibit of modern pho- tography and accessories in history will be displayed in conjunction with the forty-fourth convention of the Photographers' Association of Amer- ica, which will be held at the Coliseum in Chicago the latter part of August. Every conceivable type of camera, from that dating back to years ago to the advanced, lightning-speed repro- ducer of today, will be featured by several concerns which have reserved floor-space at the exhibit, according to A. S. Hurter, director of the conven- tion. "Not only will this be the greatest photographic exhibit in history," said Mr. Hurter, "but it will also be the most complete and extensive showing of photographic work yet to be gath- ered under one roof. Many exhibitors have arranged for demonstrations of their products, not only of interest to those engaged in photographic work, but to the general public. "Another unusual and interesting angle attending the exhibit and con- vention will be the huge number of women who are expected to be dele- gates. Heretofore women have not played an especially prominent part in photography--except as models--but during the past five vears or so more women than ever before have entered the profession. Expect Many Women "Commercial and portrait photogra- phy today is rapidly rising to be one of the chief outlets for business, and women by the scores have become photographers. We expect three hun- dred women delegates to the conven- tion, and this will not represent one- half of those doing picture work." An _interesting side-light of photo- graphic work will be in the form of a series of motion picture films to be thrown on a screen to be erected at the Coliseum, according to Mr. Hur- ter. This film will burlesque the aver- age opinion of how a commercial pho- tographer works and another portion of it will depict in reality the difficult problems to be solved. An excellent cast of actors has been assembled to portray the various characters, Arrangements have been made by the convention committee whereby all of the 5,000 delegates to the Photogra- phers' association conclave will have an opportunity to inspect the city and 1ts numerous art centers at close range. Conducted tours, with visits to the Art mnstitute, Field Museum, Chicago His- torical society, the public and other libraries and many other art and pho- tographic centers will enable the visi- tors, representing every state in the union and many European countries, to see Chicago's artistic beauty. These tours will be open to all delegates. = TO TALK ON CHARACTER Character Education" will be the topic of the radio talk which Miss Edna Dean Baker, president of the National Kindergarten and Elemen- tary college, will give over the radio onday between 4 and 4:30. She will talk from station WMAQ (the Chi- cago Daily News). The address is one of the "Mothers in Council" pro- gram which is being given by Miss Baker once each month. Mr. and Mrs. R. S.
