WINNETKA CAFE 730% Elm St. Phone 387 Half block east of station Coach Thistlethwaite Returns to Evanston to Plan Grid Season Plans for the coming fall football season will get under way in earnes at Northwestern this week with the return of Coach Glenn Thistlethwaite to the city. The Purple grid mentor will be back in the city Saturday from a two weeks' period which he spent at South Dakota Wesleyan where he con- ducted a coaching school. Coach Thistlethwaite will then be on the scene until the opening of the football season on September 15. He will supervise the arrangements for practice fields now underway at the new stadium and the numerous other duties that must be attended to be- fore the grid candidates report for practice. One hundred of these aspirants for a position on the Purple eleven are expected back this season. Thirteen letter men led by Capt. Ralph "Moon" Baker will form the nucleus around which Thistlethwaite will build his eleven. Baker has completely re- covered from the injury to his ankle which slowed him up last year. Other veterans who will be back are Frank Schumacher and Paul Griffith, half backs: "Ziggy" Solheim, quar- ter back: Earl Bovik and Waldo Fish- er, ends; Rudolph Schuler and Ralph Johnson, tackles: Otto Siebermann. Herman Cohen, Alvin Schuler, and Gordon Rahr, guards. Sophomore prospects are coming up to fill the gaps. Chief of these are Arnold M. Karsten, a 210 pound guard from St. Joseph, Mich, Karsten played fullback in high school, but has been shifted to the line. John T. Ritcher is another St. Joe boy who looks prom- ising. He plays at end. The frosh full back ace was Robert Colin, a 175 pound Chicago prep prod- uct. Walter Homer of Moline, Ill, and Dean F. Klarr of Lincoln, Ill, are the half backs from the yearlings of last vear. Bertrand Fox, 155, of Evanston is the quarter back and George Levi- son, his teammate at Evanston High, is another fullback prospect. Health Center Has Best Day in History Wednesday The Gross Point Health Center had the biggest day of its history last Wednesday when forty babies, nine of them new cases, were brought to the nutrition clinic held on that day. The officers of the center are Mrs. John A: Hoffman, chairman; Mrs. W. P. Seng, vice chairman; Mrs. Carl Widney, sec- retary and Mrs. A. W. Boylston, treas- urer. Miss Myrtle Chrudinsky is the nurse and Dr. Robert Blessing, of Ev- anston, a nutrition specialist, was the visiting physician Wednesday. Offi- cials' of the organization were much pleased with the good showing made by the center.
