September 18, 1926 WINNETKA TALK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HOLDS BIG BANQUET Members Elated Over Reports of Winnetka Day Success; Hear Radio Stars The September meeting of the Win- netka Chamber of Commerce which was held at Community House Monday evening was preceeded by a chicken dinner, at 7 o'clock; and so thoroughly was the dinner enjoyed and so enthusi- astic was the business session which followed, that the Chamber voted to serve a similar dinner at each of its monthly meetings in the future. Hill, Hirsch apd Gorney, the "Three Musketeers" of WQJ gave one of their splendid entertainments, following the banquet, and the Chamber of Com- merce members would willingly make this a feature of their monthly meet- ings. All were agreed that should the "Three Musketeers" be booked for a return engagement, it would be wise for the committee in charge to in- crease the order for chicken, that is, for more chicken dinners, as it was felt the attendance would be so much larger. This was the first meeting since Winnetka day, on which detailed re- ports were made by Secretary B. G. Eberle and others, regarding the great- est day of the kind Winnetka has ever seen. The members of Winnetka Chamber of Commerce, under whose auspices Winnetka day was held, and all of whom labored faithfully towards its success, were perceptibly pleased with the summary of the general re- sults presented to them by their secre- tary. Thomas J. Lynch, vice-president of the Chamber, who presided in the ab- sence of President B. W. Blow, very generously recognized for the Cham- ber of Commerce its appreciation of the services which Tar WINNETKA TALK rendered in the way of publicity in making the recent Winnetka day the success which it was. Salvation Army Plea -A letter was read from the Salva- tion Army regarding a proposed drive for funds in Winnetka from October 4 to 23, during which time a drive will be made in Chicago and surrounding territory. The letter, and Mary L Lamm, field representative who ap- peared in person, requested that some member of the Chamber of Commerce be appointed to lunch with the Salva- tion Army and other representatives of north shore towns, at noon, Sep- tember 16, at 719 North State street, Chicago, after which a tour of Salva- tion Army institutions in Chicago would be made. Secretary B. G. Eberle was appoint- ed to represent the Winnetka Cham- ber of Commerce at this luncheon and to make the tour of Salvation Army institutions. A letter also was read from Mrs. Bernice I. Vander Vries, president of the Winnetka League of Women Vot- ers, in regard to soliciting Winnetka business firms for advertising in their Year book. On May 19, 1924, the Winnetka Chamber of Commerce adopted a reso- lution providing "That the members refrain from advertising in programs and individual solicitations of clubs, etc., when called upon by such organi- zations," and the Chamber voted to make no exception to its policy in the foregoing case. The North Shore Electric Shop, 554 Center street, was proposed for mem- pership and accepted. Sherman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis A.
