Les- ter 71, editor of the Public Company of Northern Illinois who died Saturday, September 11, at his home in Chicago, were held Mon- day afternoon. Mr. Lester was very Service News, well known Illinois, particu- laily in newspaper circles. For seven- teen years he was a writer on the staff of the Chicago Tribune, becoming affiliated with the utility industry in northern Illinois prior to the organiza- tion of the Public Service company in 1911. The first employe publication of this company was known as the Public Service Lumen and was edited by Mr. Lester from 1916 to 1921. The name of the publication then was changed to the News, Mr. Lester continuing in the capacity of editor in addition to his duties as advertising manager. Mr. Lester was one of three surviv- ing members in Chicago of the Order of Cincinnati, a society made up of the eldest sons in the families of Revolu tionary War officers. He was a grand son, seven generations removed, of Jonathon Edwards. Surviving are the widow, a daughter and two grand children.
