To Open Winnetka Home for Bridge Party October 18 Monday afternoon, October 18, at 2 o'clock, Mrs. Edgar Foster Alden of 321 Linden street, Winnetka, will open her home for one of the series of bridge parties being given in various homes along the north shore that af- ternoon under the auspices of the Southern Woman's Educational al- liance. The hostess will be assisted by Mrs. George Karnes of 151 Fuller lane, Mrs. Charles Bradley of 174 Sheridan road, and Mrs. William Eck- hols. Reservations may be made with Mrs. Alden. Afternoon tea will be served and there will be a distinctive prize for every table, it is announced. The alliance was organized by Dr. O. L. Hatcher of Richmond, Va., for the purpose of helping girls and wom- en in the South prepare for life through the right education and the right edu- Lcational training, helping them by pro- viding safe information and counsel about education and occupation. Lady Astor and Mrs. Charles Dana Gibson were among the first contributors to the alliance which today has chapters in many cities throughout the United States. Officers for the Chicago and North shore chapter are: Mrs. E. J. Buffing- ton of Evanston, president; Mrs. Dab- ney Maury, vice mresident; Mrs. Russell Walcott of Winnetka, secretary and treasurer. Mrs. Charles Strotz, Mrs. Paul Jarvis, Mrs. Harold Pulsifer and Mrs. Hubert Burnham are charter members.
