The offering was $150 and on April 21, it was form- ally decided to build or buy a rectory for the parish. On January 23, 1900, the J. H. Mor- ing property at the corner of Oak and Linden was purchased, at $4,100, only $1,600 being paid in cash, the balance in notes. The rector's salary in 1900 was only $900. The first mention of the parish house appears in the minutes of December 10, 1902. On November 9, 1903, plans were ordered drawn for a church to cost $20,000. The petition for organi- zation as a parish, stating that the an- nual income is $1,662, is dated Decem- ber 15, 1903, and was granted by Bis- hop McLaren on January 11, 1904. On February 2, 1904, the constitution and canons of the parish were adopted and the first vestry elected. Mr. Moore was formally elected as rector on February 11, 1904, at a salary of $1,200 and rectory. The minutes of May 23, 1904, record the acceptance of W. M, Hoyt to build a $30,000 church. The Rev. Mr. Moore's resignation as rector was accepted April 24, 1907, and on the following September, Rev. H. W. Starr was elected. There were 78 in the Sunday school then. The Hoyt memorial chimes were ac- cepted by the Vestry in the fall of 1910. The Rev. Mr. Starr's resignation be- came effective in September, 1911. Rev. Frederick G. Budlong was called as rector and took charge April 21, 1912, E. E. Chase became Choir Master September 21, 1912. On June 16, 1913 the rector present- ed plans for a new parish house cost- ing $22,000," which was dedicated in April, the following year. The Evening Guild was formed in the fall of 1914. Rev. F. G. Budlong's resignation to accept the rectorship of St. Peter's church, Chicago, became effective Feb- ruary 1, 1916, his successor being Rev. E. Ashley Gerhard, the present rector.
