Dean Goodrich is one of the most eminent nurses in the United States and has won wide recognition for her efforts to aid humanity through better nursing. Mrs. Harry F. Williams, who, as president of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Training School for Nurses, conducted the negotiations for the recently announced merger of that school with the University of Chicago as a nucleus for the third University School of Nursing, will tell what may be expected from this notable con- tribution to the advancement of nurs- ing education in the middle west. The third speaker at the Casino luncheon, which is given under the au- spices of a group of lay people inter- ested in nursing known as the Central Council for Nursing Education, 116 South Michigan avenue, will be May Ayres Burgess, Ph. D. Dr. Burgess is directing a five year study of nurs- ing education and schools of nursing under the auspices of the committee on grading schools of nursing, com- prised of the national nursing organi- zations, the American Medical associa- tion, American Hospital association, National Public Health association, American College of Surgeons 'and several noted specialists in education including Prof. W. W. Charters of the University of Chicago. Among the specially invited guests of council at the Casino luncheon will be Mrs. Harold L. Ickes and Mrs. B. F. Langworthy, of Winnetka. The committee in charge of the luncheon in addition to Mrs. Patten consists of Mrs. Perkins B. Bass, Mrs. John W. Gary, Mrs. Ernest E. Irons, Mrs. John MacMahon, Mrs. James Simpson, Mrs. Arthur H.
