AR October 23, 1926 WINNETKA a TALK PERSHING, DAWES AND DEVER TO VIEW GAME To Be Among 40,000 at Satur- day's Clash and Take Part in Camp Memorial The Northwestern-Notre Dame foot- ball game Saturday will be played be- fore one of the largest and most color- | ful crowds that ever attended a grid contest in the middle west. Among the many guests of national promin- ence who 'will be present at North- western's new stadium are Vice-Presi- dent Dawes, General John,J. Pershing and Mayor Dever. Gen. Pershing will be the guest of Vice-President Dawes during his visit in Evanston and will occupy Dawes' box at the game. Special ceremonies between halves will be held in which General Dawes, General Pershing, Mayor Dever and others will participate. The North- western and Notre Dame bands will aid 'in the ceremony. At this time the large audience of 40,000 persons will also pay tribute to the memory of Walter Camp, the "Father of American Football." The Walter Camp creed will be read while every one in the big stadium stands with bared head. Never in the history of football at Northwestern has there been such a great demand for tickets as there has been for Saturday's game. Thousands of orders for tickets were returned when the supply ran out one week ago. A similar demand for tickets is also being made for the Chicago-Northwes- tern game. Ducats for this contest were almost gone early this week and E. B. Davidson, ticket manager, an- nounced he expected the supply to be exhausted by today. Forty-eight thou- sand will be the seating capacity of the stadium for this event. | nounceme nt is something of more than Mrs. Samuel Insull Is Lead in "Runaway Road" The Repertoire company will present Mrs. Insull and her company in a new American come- dy, "The Runaway Road," by Gretchen Damrosch Finletter, at the Studebaker theatre, Chicago, for an indefinite en- gagement beginning Monday night, November 1. Back of this plain an- Theatre Samuel interest to theatre-goers of this vicinity. It will be recalled that a year or so ago, Mrs. Insull, formerly so favorably known on the professional stage as Gladys Wallis, appeared both in Chicago and in New York in a revival of "The School for Scandal." Her success on her return to the stage was quite out of the ordinary--not alone in Chicago but in New York as well, where she appeared in the play ninety-five performances, establishing a record run for the Sheridan master- piece. This outstanding achievement has had a significant result. The Rep- ertoire Theatre company, an Illinois corporation, has, as it is well known, taken over the Studebaker theatre for a term of years. Here, during a por- tion of each season, Mrs. Insull and the best company players obtainable, will appear in new plays chiefly by American authors, and occasional re- vivals of standard plays and classics. It is not in any sense a '"high-brow" movement, nor an effort to "uplift the drama." It is just meant to give that section of the public, who still love the spoken drama, the best that can be obtained, so far as seasoned profes- sional judgment goes, in plays and players, it is explained. passing The Current Events class of Win- netka will meet at the home of Mrs. George Adams of 1241 Ash street, Fri- day, October 29, at 2:30 o'clock.
