Municipal News The Village of Winnetka has adop- ted a modern machine bookkeeping system, for keeping customers' ac- counts and rendering monthly bills, in the interests of economy of operation and the convenience of consumers, and in accordance with the best practice of other public utilities. Water will appear once every three months, on the same bill with the other named services. Each bill will contain complete in- formation as to meter readings, amount of consumption, gross charges, discount, and net amount of the total bill. Heretofore all Village bills have been rendered on the first of each month. Because of the rapid growth of the Village, it has been necessary ito divide it into three districts, with a different monthly billing date for each district, approximately as fol- lows: District No. and Boundaries: 1. Water service will be billed quarterly as in the past, but instead of all meters being read in December, March, June and September, the meters in District No. 1, south of Willow road enly will be read in these months. Water meters in District No. 2, be- tween Willow and Pine will be read in January, April, July and October and water meters in District No. 3, north of Pine street, will be read in February, May, August and November. Charges for water service will there- fore appear on the same bill with other services, once every three months, as indicated above. Delegate to Congress in Tokio Guest of Atwoods Mr. and Mrs. Burton H. Atwood of 839 Elm street, had as their guest one day last week, Mr. Atwood's brother, Wallace W. Atwood, president of Clark university, Wooster, Ohio, who stopped in Winnetka on his way to attend the Pan-Pacific Scientific Con- gress in Tokio, Japan. This congress, a gathering of the leading scientists of the day, is rep- resented by only two dozen citizens of this country, and Mr. Atwood was ap- pointed as one of the twenty-four dele- gates.
